A few non traditional firsts

Todd & I were looking back over Erin's older pictures today, marveling at how much she's changed. Here are some of her non traditional firsts from the last six months or so.

This is the first time at the cabin, where she spent most of her time sleeping on one or the other of us, unless it was night time, in which case, she was wide awake.

Erin's first trip to the zoo, and her first trip to the Bird Show, all rolled into one:

Lastly, here are some pictures of Erin at her first Holidazzle parade. We went to go see Daddy on the Target float.

Going places

Erin is starting to army crawl/creep reliably, though more often than not, she'll roll to get where she's going or else she winds up going backwards! She's even gotten the real crawling motion down, but can only do it backwards, and has only done it once or twice. We find ourselves moving her a lot to keep her out of trouble. We can't quite baby proof (at least not the stairs) until we get some work done, so we have to keep an eye out! Here are some recent pictures of her trying to crawl!

I got a new camera for my birthday!

It's still got some shutter lag, but I haven't taken a blurry picture yet! Whoo! After much debate, Todd finally decided that he would get me a new digital camera. We probably didn't need it, but I was taking such bad pictures with our old one. The new one has image stabilization, probably the most important thing for taking pictures of a baby who's on the go. I took nearly 200 pictures over the long weekend since getting my camera. More than we've taken in a very long time. Here are a few of them.

She sits!

Erin can now sit unassisted for short periods of time. She usually needs something in front of her, to focus on, but it's more than she'd been able to do for a long time!

Six Months

Erin turned six months old today. It was a big day. In the morning, we had her six month and Christmas pictures at Target. We don't have links to any of those. :(

Later that evening, I did manage to get Erin to sit on the couch for a couple of pictures, with a sign saying how old she is. We haven't done it every month, but it seemed important to do it for her half birthday.

Erin was way more into trying to eat and rip the sign than anything else. But she had a good time, and I was finally able to take some good pictures!

We also gave her one of her Christmas presents early, as a half birthday gift. She really enjoyed playing with it!

Halloween part 2

Erin actually went trick or treating on her first Halloween. First stop was at Grammy and Grandpa's. We got lots of treats there. :)

Erin practiced her raspberry for her Halloween trick. She's showing Daddy just how much she loves her costume. (yeah, right)

Here's one of our other stops, at the Glockner's house. We had to go inside because it was a little bit of a walk and quite windy and cold. Erin was getting a red nose to go with her costume!

Sadly, we didn't get as many pictures as we would have liked because Erin was getting crabby and sick of her costume. In retrospect, because she got very sick the next night, it could have been attributed to the start of her illness. We did enjoy her first Halloween, but look forward to next year, when she'll probably enjoy it even more (and maybe get to eat some of her candy!).

Halloween Part 1

There was a Halloween party at Erin's daycare, so we wanted her to be dressed to participate. However, we weren't sure how she'd react to her costume (and it was kinda cold that day), so we didn't want her wearing it all day. Instead, we put her in her Halloween sleeper (it says "I want my mummy") and a cute little cat hat we got at Target. Here's our little kitty all ready to party!
