Surgery :(

On May 30, Erin had tubes put in her ears. She'd been battling the same ear infection for over a month, and it was time. It was very hard on all of us, and you can see how unhappy (and hungry!) Erin is in these pre-op pictures.

Everything is looking good so far, and we haven't had to bring a sick baby to the doctor's office since then. It's a relief, since we were going at least once a week! I'm so glad to have a happy and healthy baby back!

Memorial Day at the cabin

Memorial Day at the Cabin is kind of a special time. Erin's first trip to the cabin was last year, when she was two weeks old. We had originally planned to spend last Memorial Day at home because I was supposed to still be 38 weeks pregnant. Erin had other ideas, though, and after her 2 week well baby visit, her pediatrician said there was no reason she couldn't go. So we did.

This year was a whole different ball game. It was our first trip away from home since Erin could walk, and I'd venture to say that it was the first time Erin got anything out of a visit to the cabin. She had an absolute ball investigating, climbing stairs, and she even slept much better (and at night!) than she did last year!

She enjoyed playing on the grass with Daddy.

Hanging out and walking around on the deck was a lot of fun, too.

Hung out with Grampa, who was guarding the steps.

Hogged the remote, just like she does at home:

Posed for a picture on the black bear ottoman:

And, of course, stuffed her face!

The day after

Okay, this isn't all the day after. Later that day, Erin found a party hat and decided to play with it.

The next day she spent some time figuring out how to use her zebra.

Then, she thought she'd help clean up by moving all the cups.

Cake time

Since we basically did cupcakes for Erin's birthday cake, we just gave her one instead of a whole smash cake. She was very tentative with it, probably because we'd taken her out of her dress. She may have gone crazy with it if we'd left her dressed.

Am I supposed to eat this stuff?
That's not so bad!

The aftermath.

Erin's birthday party

Erin has always been afraid of her duck tub, but we finally got some practical use out of it as a beverage cooler.

Erin enjoyed ripping the paper table cloth.

Her favorite part of the party was the presents.
She's very excited about her hat
Until we tried to put it on her.The ball made her much happier.
The ribbon was by far the best, though.

Shall we try that hat again?

No, Jane, I won't share with you.

What's that one, Mom?
Oooh, a fridge farm!Let's try the sunglasses.
No, I don't want to wear them, don't make me!!!

Let's play with the fridge farm some more.

Yay!!! Presents rock!
I'm not cleaning up this mess!!!

Erin's first carnival

We took Erin's to Todd's school for their carnival. They actually had games she could sort of play and she won all kinds of prizes.

She was fascinated by the different colors on the lollipop tree.

She didn't want to pick a duck, she just wanted to watch them float.

And then we got her a balloon hat, which lasted on her head about as long as any other hat (3.2 seconds).
