Skyland

Skyland is the giant wooden playground at Cliff Fen park. We'd never taken Erin there before, and she was still a little small for it, but she didn't let that stop her. She had a blast climbing on stuff and trying to do things that she was too young for.

She showed us how NOT to use the slide:

She also found a bridge that looks like it's made out of a grocery store conveyor belt. She had fun on it. Todd would bounce up and down and she had to balance. She loved getting on halfway across, walking to the end, climbing down, walking to the middle and starting again. Here's video proof.

(And yes, this was back in early October when the weather was nicer.)

The apple orchard

Yep, the posts are out of date order, but boo on you for noticing! If it hadn't been for Erin's haircut, I wouldn't even need to point it out.

We took Erin to an apple orchard about 40 minutes from home, in Jordan, MN. We never actually made it into the apple orchard. Instead, we visited the corn maze, had some lunch, bought some pastries and visited with some horses. Apples are overrated, as Erin was much happier eating the raspberries we brought from home. We did, however, share some apple cider donuts. (And, for the record, that will be the last time Erin ever rides in the Snugli. She's not over the weight limit, but it wasn't fun.

Later that evening, we went to a BBQ at Grammy and Papa's place. Erin had fun hanging with Daddy and Papa on the patio. (Ahem, picking up all the rocks and relocating them.)

Crazy dancing

Really not much commentary needed for these....other than to say Erin used to be afraid of the duck. I think she's gotten over it.

The Hair Cut

We were never sure we were going to get Erin's hair cut, but it's been unruly in the back and in her eyes in the front. Erin doesn't like having her hair done, so no sprouts or other pig or pony tails to get the hair out of her eyes. So, we finally gave in and got a big hair cut done. Now the back is more manageable, and we can let it grow out. And Erin can see again!

During (poor Erin hates having her hair cut and she cried and cried for the whole 10 minutes it took):

At the cabin

Erin did what she does best at the cabin. Play in the play cabin. Slide down the slide. Swing on the swings. And hang out with Daddy on the beach, especially to harass Grandpa while he's fishing.

Road Trip

The last weekend in September, we went up to the cabin in Park Rapids again. This time, Erin was awake on the trip up and I spent some time playing in the backseat with her. (Plus we ate lunch on the road, so this way I could help her eat.)

When we were playing, I would hand Erin some links and she would tear them apart, and then hand them to me one at a time to put them back together. And we'd do it again. And again. And again. I couldn't help taking a video.
